Longview offers a wide variety of transportation options including excellent streets and roadways, as well as access to public transportation via air, rail, and bus. These options are further expanded by nearby Shreveport, Dallas, and Houston. Longview is served by the Longview Metropolitan Planning Organization, which provides long-term guidance and direction for transportation issues. Longview residents can enjoy easy air transportation via three nearby regional airports as well as international airports availably in nearby Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.

- Located on State Highway 322, four miles south of Longview.
- Serviced by one commercial airline, American Eagle, with three arriving and three departing
flights to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport daily.
- Two fixed-base operators service the airport, supplying fuel, hangar space, flight school,
charters, and maintenance facility.
- Operated by Gregg County, and has been serving the residents of East Texas for over 57
years. The airport maintains three runways; the longest is 10,000 feet. Because of its
exceptional runway, the East Texas Regional Airport is used as a military training facility
and is capable of handling nearly any type of aircraft, including Air Force One. The airport
also operates as an alternate landing site for the space shuttle.
- Operates as a Foreign Trade Zone.
- Serviced by three rental car agencies, two taxi companies, and one limousine service.
- Home to LeTourneau University’s Aviation Department.
Tyler Pounds Regional Airport
- Located in Tyler, TX, approximately 45 miles west of Longview.
- Serviced by two commercial airlines: American Eagle with five arriving and five departing
flights to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport daily, and Continental Connection with three to six
arriving and departing flights to Houston daily.
- Services include an aviation museum, fixed base operators, rental car agencies, and more.
Shreveport Regional Airport
- Located in Shreveport, LA, approximately 57 miles east of Longview.
- Serviced by American Eagle with flights to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport; Allegiant Air with
flights to Las Vegas and Orlando; Atlantic Southeast Airlines with flights to Dallas/Fort
Worth and Atlanta; ASA/COMAIR with flights to Cincinnati; Continental Express with
flights to Houston; and Northwest Airlink with flights to Memphis and Detroit. Combined,
there are more than 62 scheduled arriving and departing flights among carriers at Shreveport.
Passenger Rail
- Amtrak presently operates eight passenger trains through Longview each week.
- The Longview Amtrak station boasts an impressive 2nd highest ridership rate in the state, behind Dallas. On an average, 65 passengers per day board or exit at the Longview station. The Texas Eagle travels seven times per week northbound to Chicago via Little Rock and St. Louis.
- The Eagle heads westbound for Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin, and San Antonio with final destination of Los Angeles seven times per week. In addition, six times per week, a through-way bus transports passengers south to Nacogdoches, Houston, and Galveston. Another through-way bus travels six days a week to Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana.
Intercity Bus
- Twenty-one scheduled intercity buses stop daily at the Greyhound station on E. Magrill Street in Longview.
- Greyhound buses are bound for Dallas, Shreveport, Texarkana, and Houston. The Greyhound buses from the Longview terminal connect to destinations from Canada to New Mexico.
- On average, thirty to thirty-five tickets are issued daily. Intermodal transfer is available with Longview Transit, which operates a transfer station only one block northeast of the bus station. The Greyhound intercity bus options are in addition to the bus routes operated by Amtrak as mentioned in the “Passenger Rail” section.

- A fixed-route bus system that provides quality public transportation for the
residents of Longview.
- There are six routes which function within the City limits with stops
located at convenient locations through the routes.
- Operates Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.;
and Saturday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
- Hourly routes, except one route that operates every 30 minutes.
- Fares per trip are $1.00 for adults age 15+; $0.75 for children age 6 to 15;
$0.50 for adults age 60+, Medicare certified, or disabled; and Free for children
under age 6 when accompanied by an adult. Pre-pay discount passes available.
- In addition to regular bus stops, individuals may flag a bus at various locations along the
fixed route.
COLT - City of Longview Demand Response Transportation
- Curb-to-Curb service known as “Demand Response Service” at a cost of $2.00 per trip for
eligible passengers unable to utilize regular fixed route service.
- Serves the elderly age 60 and over and persons with a transportation disability; the service is based upon criteria established by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Three lift-equipped mini-buses manage a total average of 650 trips per month on an advance reservation basis.
Minibus - East Texas Council of Governments
- Provides transportation to shopping, medical appointments, and senior centers for residents living outside of the Longview City limits.
- The Demand-Response-Service provides approximately 2,200 trips per month for rural
portions of Gregg, Harrison, Rusk, and Upshur counties.
