The City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department offers many opportunities for adults to participate in athletic leagues and events.
The City of Longview offers adult softball in the spring, summer, and fall seasons at Hinsley Park.
Each season, over 100 teams from the East Texas area compete in eight games, striving towards the goal of being crowned league champions. Registration for spring ball is held in February and the fun begins in early March. Summer league begins in June and fall league begins in September. Available leagues include Open, Industrial, Coed, Men’s Church, Women’s, Men’s 35 & Over, Church Coed, and Youth Church Coed.
Adults throughout the community join together every winter for our Adult Basketball league.
Teams sign up in Open, Church, and Industrial divisions and enjoy time on the court in local school and city owned gyms. Registration for this sport is held in October and the league begins in late November and ends in February.
Adult volleyball is offered in the fall for adult teams that wish to participate.
Adult Flag Football
The City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department offers Adult Flag Football in the fall each
year. Games are held four nights per week at Womack Field in Stamper Park.
The City has a nationally recognized water aerobics program at the Paula Martin Jones Recreation
Center. Classes are held several times per day and are included free with membership to the center.
The Parks and Recreation Department offers several facilities for citizens to enjoy sports. Longview
Parks have indoor and outdoor basketball, indoor and outdoor swimming, racquetball, disc golf, tennis, walking and jogging trails, as well as softball, baseball, and soccer fields.

There are many different sports associations within the Longview area that offer athletic opportunities.
Longview Running Club

Longview Bicycle Club
Longview Bicycle Club offers a variety of rides and gathering for people of all ages and abilities. Activities include year-round Saturday and Sunday rides, Monday rides April to November, Thursday

Longview Tennis Association
Longview Tennis Association (LTA) was founded in 1970s by a group of Longview tennis enthusiasts. The organization promotes friendship and good health through the game of tennis. LTA organizes Longview leagues and Longview teams that participate in Northeast Texas USTA leagues. These leagues are played year around at Longview High School and Pine Tree High School tennis courts. The group has about 120 active members, and encourages others to join for fun activities. Leagues include junior leagues, men’s singles and doubles, lady’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and senior leagues. Longview Swim Club
The Longview Swim Club offers year-round swimming instruction for ages five through adults with
all levels of swimming skill. The club offers swimming programs that meet the varying needs and interests of our members, whether it is training for competitive swimming, exercise, or to become a more proficient swimmer. As members of USA Swimming, US Masters Swimming, and the East
Texas Summer Swimming League, the club is committed to promoting and sharing the sport with the community. Longview Swim Club wants the community to know that swimming is a sport people of all ages can enjoy their entire life, and that life lessons can be learned through this sport. Recreational bowling as well as league play is available at two bowling alleys in Longview that feature electronic scoring and other amenities.

Yacht Club is located on Lake of the Pines, adjacent to the Big Cypress Marina in Marion County, TX. This club plans special sailing days and fun events throughout the state year round.
East Texas Fly Fishers
A club interested in educating, promoting, and enjoying the sport and art of Fly Fishing. The ETFF

Fishing Tournaments With so many lakes within a short drive of Longview, fishing tournaments are almost always happening close to Longview. A couple of the major events include: the KYKX Big Bass Bonanza at Lake O the Pines in late spring and the Toyota Texas Bass Classic at Lake Fork.
Longview Archery Club
Club is affiliated with the state and national archery organizations and meets the first Monday of every month.
East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club
A private, non-profit National Rifle Association, Texas State Rifle Association, and CMP affiliated
club located approximately 10 minutes outside of Longview, south of Interstate 20 on FM 2011. Facilities include pistol ranges, rifle ranges, and a sporting clays course.
Hunting is a popular activity throughout East Texas and several opportunities near the Longview area..
East Texas Motor Speedway - Half-mile high-banked clay oval located approximately 15 miles from
Longview near Kilgore, Texas. The track is under new ownership and not currently open.
Hallsville DragStrip - Quarter-mile IHRA dragstrip located approximately 15 miles from Longview,
north of Hallsville, Texas on FM 450. Not currently open at this time.
Arklatex Speedway - Quarter-mile, semi-banked clay oval raceway. Located approximately 60 miles
from Longview in Vivian, Louisiana. www.arklatexspeedway.net
Boothill Speedway - A 3/8 mile clay oval track located approximately 50 miles from Longview in

High School and College Sports
High School Sports in Longview are very popular, especially football. With the City of Longview split into several school districts plus a university and nearby junior college, there is no lacking of competitions to enjoy.
Longview High School Lobos
The Longview Lobos are a 5A school, and is the largest school district in Longview. The school participates in basketball, baseball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, and volleyball.
Pine Tree Pirates
The Pine Tree Pirates are a 4A school with a wide variety of sports available for students including baseball, basketball, cross country, diving, football, golf, soccer, swimming, softball, tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling.
Spring Hill Panthers
The Spring Hill Panthers are a 3A school with a wide variety of sports available for students including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, powerlifting, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball.
The Hallsville Bobcats are a 4A school that is located approximately 10 miles from Longview in Hallsville, but parts of eastern Longview are located within the Hallsville School District. The school has several athletic programs available for students including baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball.
Kilgore College is a junior college with a main campus in Kilgore and a satellite campus in Longview. Athletics are part of the National Junior College Athletic Association and are played in Kilgore, which is approximately 12 miles from Longview. Intercollegiate Athletic programs include basketball, cheerleading, and football. Of special note, Kilgore claims to be “the winningest junior college football program in Texas, claiming two national titles, 22 conference and state titles, appearing in 17 bowl games and producing 52 first-team All-Americans.”
LeTourneau University is part of the American Southwest Conference and NCAA Division III. Intercollegiate athletics include Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Golf and Tennis.
