Fire Department Offers Fire Prevention Course for Seniors
(Longview, TX) The Longview Fire Department will offer a two-hour course for senior residents on topics such as fire prevention, fall prevention, the file of life program, and the ambulance subscription program. The course will be offered from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday each week by request. The course is free, but pre-registration is required.
According to Fire Chief J.P. Steelman, “In the Fire Department, we respond to a number of calls that perhaps could have been prevented. So, we want to share some tips with our senior residents about ways to help make their homes safer. We also hope to educate residents about available resources that the department provides.”
The course presentation is also available by request for nursing homes, churches, senior centers, or other organizations that work with senior citizens.
